In the spring of 2012, both the middle school and high 
school bands are starting to use a software program titled  Smart Music.
The purpose of the software is to provide students with an  additional means of assessment of their overall musical  abilities and to make practicing more FUN.

 
There are also many other features within the software that students could use:

●High-end metronome and tuner
●Access to a library of thousands of musical selections that students can practice/play along with.
●A virtual "accompanist" for solo works that follows the student's performance!
 
The MS & HS both provide access to SmartMusic on a few computers at each building.  It is our goal, however, to encourage students to access SmartMusic at home.

How do you sign up?

 
1.  Two things are needed to use SmartMusic at home.  The subscription runs $36.00 / year (just a bit higher than the average rate in the area of a one hour private lesson, but cheaper than any video game). You will also need a microphone ($20.00 for PCs, $30.00 for MACs).  
2.  To place your order:
●Go to www.smartmusic.com, click on "Store".
●Add Student Subscription
● Log Into your existing account
●We recommend the SmartMusic Microphones chose (especially if you have a desktop computer) : PC (1/8 inch) or Mac (usb)
●Click Check Out
● Enter Payment Information
 

PLEASE NOTE:
1.  Students do NOT have to purchase a subscription to use the program only at school, but we  only have a few copies that can be used at the same time.
2.  If you have multiple children, you would only need to purchase a subscription for each
computer, not each child!
